Operating Procedures for Replacing Core Wear Parts of a Direct-Cooling Block Ice Machine
Overview
During the long-term continuous operation of a direct-cooling block ice machine, the dry filter, solenoid valve core, return air filter, expansion valve core, and oil filter are key vulnerable components of the refrigeration system. Replacing and maintaining them according to standardized procedures can effectively prevent issues such as ice blockages, dirt blockages, and refrigerant leaks, protect core components like the compressor, extend the equipment's service life, and ensure stable and continuous production at the ice plant.
Safety Notice
The refrigeration system is a pressurized special equipment, so all maintenance operations **must be carried out by professionals with refrigeration operation qualifications**. Before operating, cut off the power and wear personal protective equipment. It's recommended to use original manufacturer parts for replacements. After maintenance, leakage testing is required, and the system can only be put back into operation once there are no leaks.
Dry Filter Replacement
The dry filter is used to absorb moisture and filter impurities in the refrigeration system, preventing ice blockages. It’s the first protective component in the refrigeration circuit.
1. Close the valves in front of and behind the filter.
2. Remove the end cover of the dry filter.
3. Take out the old filter element, clean the debris inside the filter, and quickly install the new filter element. When installing, make sure the filter cotton pad, sealing gasket, and compression spring are in place, then close the end cover.
4. Don’t fully tighten the end cover screws yet. Slightly open the liquid outlet valve on the receiver to perform air purging.
5. Tighten all screws and open the valves in front of and behind the filter.
6. Once the system is running stably, check the maintenance area for any air leaks.
Replacing the Solenoid Valve Core
The solenoid valve controls the on-and-off of the refrigerant lines. If the valve core wears out, it can cause unstable liquid supply and reduced ice production.
1. Close the liquid supply ball valve;
2. Remove the solenoid valve cover;
3. Take out the old valve core, replace it with a new one, and put the cover back on;
4. Don’t fully tighten the cover screws yet, slightly open the condenser liquid valve to purge air;
5. Tighten the screws and open the liquid supply ball valve;
6. Once the system is running normally, check for leaks at the maintenance site.
Recirculation Air Filter Replacement
The recirculation air filter can block impurities from the evaporator side and prevent them from entering the compressor, which could cause wear to the main unit. **It is recommended to replace it at normal temperature to avoid water vapor from the air entering the system during low-temperature cover opening, which could lead to ice blockage.**
1. Ensure the equipment is properly shut down and close the valves before and after the filter;
2. Remove the filter end cover;
3. Clean the inside of the filter cartridge, replace with a new filter element, reinstall the end cover, making sure the gasket and spring are properly positioned;
4. Keep the end cover screws loose, slightly open the valve in front of the filter to purge air;
5. Tighten the screws, then sequentially open the compressor recirculation valve and the valve in front of the filter;
6. Once the system is running stably, check the operating parts for leaks.
Replacing the Expansion Valve Core
The expansion valve is a key component in a refrigeration system for throttling. If the valve core is worn or the filter is clogged, it can directly lead to insufficient cooling efficiency.
1. Close the liquid supply ball valve, run the equipment for a short time, and evacuate the low-pressure section;
2. Remove the valve cover and take out the valve core and filter;
3. Clean the filter or replace the valve core and filter;
4. Reassemble the expansion valve;
5. Evacuate the low-pressure line;
6. After the system runs normally, check for leaks at the repair site.
Oil Filter Replacement
The oil filter cleans the compressor’s lubricating oil, blocks solid impurities, and protects the moving parts of the compressor.
1. Close the valves on both ends of the oil filter;
2. Loosen the nuts on both ends of the oil filter and remove the filter;
3. Install a new oil filter element, tighten one end nut, and open the valve to bleed air;
4. Tighten the nuts on both ends and open the valves at both ends of the oil filter;
5. After the system runs stably, check for leaks at the maintenance location.
Operation and Maintenance Instructions
Preventive maintenance is key to reducing downtime at the ice plant. Regular inspections and replacing worn parts in the refrigeration system as needed can help prevent unexpected breakdowns, keep ice production stable, and lower major repair costs.
